Welcome to 3rd Havering (St.James) Scout Group

3rd Havering (St James) Scout Group has been actively supporting 6-14year olds in the local area since 1969.

All three of our sections meet at St James Church Hall, Chase Cross Road  every Wednesday evening

  • Beaver Section   Meet: 17:30 – 18:30
  • Cub Section        Meet: 18:40 – 19:50
  • Scout Section     Meet: 20:00 – 21:15

Adventure is at the core of scouting. Through adventure we challenge individuals so that they learn and experience new things that will enrich their lives and teach them skills for life. When a beaver scout wakes up the morning after a sleepover, or a cub scout has confronted their fear of heights, or a young scout leads a hike, that is adventure.

Beaver Scouts (6-8 year olds)
Beaver Scouts are boys and girls aged between six and eight.
They meet in ‘Colonies’ – clubs that are different from school or their immediate family.

Cub Scouts (8-10 year olds)
Cub Scouts are girls and boys who join the Section aged eight and move on to the Scout Troop between the ages of ten and eleven.
They meet together in a Cub Scout Pack, which usually has between 6 and 36 members.

Scouts (10-14 year olds)
Scouts are usually aged between about ten and a half and fourteen years old.
The Scout Troop has traditionally been based on the ‘Patrol system’.  This involves small groups of young people working and playing together in a gang; usually led by someone of a similar age and supported and guided by adults.
